Selecting the Best GMAT Courses?
Selecting the best GMAT course might possibly be the most important decision you make. Lets face it. Admission councils put a significant weight on your GMAT score and employers put a significant weight on where you obtained your education from. You do not want to be the person who settles for a lower tiered institution, because you made the wrong decision on which GMAT course to go with. So many people think that every GMAT course out there has to be extremely similar and that it couldn't possibly matter which one they choose. However, they can be significantly different and you need to specifically consider the following things prior to making your decision.
1. Will Your Learning Needs Be Met With the GMAT Course?
A persons learning needs should not be ignored. If you know that you are the type of person who absolutely needs a live in person instructor, then do not choose an online on demand prep course just because it's cheaper. In the long wrong you will be much better off choosing the more expensive option that you know fits your needs. Similarly, if you are the type of person who learns better going at your own pace and studying from the comfort of your own home, then you need to consider the online prep course options. Don't make a purchase without really thinking about what your personal learning needs. Chances are they have not changed over the course of your life and you know your needs better anybody.
2. Do the GMAT Courses Contain Quality Content?
If we have listed a prep course as one of the best GMAT courses, then it will contain quality content. However, there are many prep course options out there that simply don't provide you with quality content. Content creation is extremely costly and takes a lot of time. You should beware of prep course companies that haven't been in business for very long and are trying to gain your business with a cheap price tag. The old saying applies to prep courses as well. If you seems too good to be true, then more than likely it is. Just make sure that you do your research. Luckily, we have compiled all the information you could possibly need to make the best decision.
3. Do the GMAT Courses Fit Your Lifestyle?
Ones lifestyle without a doubt will dictate which GMAT course option will work best for you. There are those who are lucky enough to have available time on their side. For those, an in-person prep course could be the optimal option. However, for a large portion of the population, available time is not something one finds often. It can be due to work schedules, children, hobbies, and many other reasons. The bottom line though is that some people needs something they can get through at their own pace. For those people, the online GMAT courses are an extremely attractive option.
4. Are You Getting a Highly Qualified GMAT Course Instructor With Your Purchase?
You'll notice throughout our reviews that we highlight company minimum requirements for their instructors. This aspect of a prep course should never be ignored. There are companies out there who will try and sell you on their products, but before you make a purchase, you should always verify what their minimum requirements are for their GMAT course instructors. We recommend going with a company that requires their instructors to have scored in the 99% percentile on the official GMAT and that require their instructors to have had instructor training prior to teaching a class. An individual might be able to score extremely high on the GMAT, but it doesn't mean they are going to make a great instructor. There are some companies that recognize this and implement training requirements.
5. What is the GMAT Course Company History?
History is always a good indicator of whether or not you're going to get a quality product with your purchase. There are test prep companies that have been in business for over 50 years and then there are those that have been in business for as little as a few years. Some start up companies offer quality products, but when you go with a company who has been doing business within the industry for many years or even decades, you know that the company has withstood the test of time and without quality products that do the job, that company would not have survived all those years.
